“Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that's why it is so complicated.”

About Me:
Hello, my name is Max Nadel, and welcome to my portfolio website.
A little about myself: I attended SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica, New York, and have a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Information Design (CID) with a Minor in Marketing. While there, I was a part of many student organizations, an orientation advisor, and helped build a new organization, the Residence Hall Association, through our residential life office. As part of this work, we became affiliated with the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH). All of this led to me earning the Student Life Award in 2019 for everything I had done for the student affairs department during my undergraduate career. I was one of only four students who was given this award that year.
After that, I attended a graduate program at SUNY Poly for Information Design and Technology (IDT). While there, I got a graduate assistant position in the residential life office. My program was all online, and honestly, I had trouble motivating myself to do the online work without an in-person element to the classes. I was close to failing and close to losing everything I had worked for. It really hit me hard, but I made the decision to head home and take a break from pursuing a master's degree. In retrospect, I realized something. I really enjoyed all of the things I had done in student affairs over the years, and that I could turn this into a career. All of the people in student affairs that I met brought a smile to my face and really motivated me to excel in helping others bring out the best in themselves. I now want to pay that forward in my career, and in addition, integrate my knowledge of design and marketing. It’s my hope that this will give other higher students the possibility of having the same experiences I had.
